NMC CBT Pass Mark Explained

Published: June 2, 2026 | By: cbtprep.co.uk

What is the passing score for the NMC CBT? The marking system is structured to ensure absolute clinical safety. Let's deconstruct the exact percentage pass marks and safety rules governing your grading sheet.

1. Part A (Numeracy) Pass Mark

Part A contains 15 calculation questions. To pass, you must achieve an overall score of **87%** (answering at least 13 questions correctly). A single mathematical decimal error can quickly drop your score below the threshold, so high accuracy and double-checking are required.

2. Part B (Clinical) Pass Mark

Part B has 105 clinical items. The overall passing threshold is set at **68%**. However, you must also pass the individual clinical safety domains (like elder safeguarding and standard clinical escalations). A fail in these safety domains means a fail of the entire Part B.
