If you are an international nurse preparing for the RNA (Adult Nursing) CBT, you must be familiar with specific UK clinical frameworks. Here are the three most critical ones that will definitely be on your exam.
1. The NEWS2 Scoring System
The National Early Warning Score (NEWS2) is used across all UK NHS trusts to detect clinical deterioration. You must know when to escalate care based on specific scores. Do not rely on overseas tracking systems.
2. Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)
The NMC blueprint requires in-depth knowledge of standard infection control precautions (SICPs). Memorize the correct order for putting on and taking off PPE, and the principles of the 'Five Moments for Hand Hygiene'.
3. SBAR Communication Framework
SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) is the gold standard for clinical handovers in the UK. Many communication questions will present SBAR options; understanding its logical flow is vital.
